Gettie P. Lear's Obituary
Gettie Pearl Lear 99 of Humansville, passed away Monday evening July 22, 2013 at Northwood Hills Care Center in Humansville, MO. Gettie was born on October 15, 1913 in Pittsburg, MO. She is the daughter of Edward Floyd and Elvira (Luttrell) Floyd. Gettie was one of 9 children.
On October 19, 1929 in Hermitage, Mo. Gettie married Royal Marshall Lear and to this union 10 children were born. Gettie and Royal lived in many places across the country and their first two children Stanley and Lionel were born in Missouri. They later moved to Ihland, Minnesota where six children were born; Ramona, Royal Jr., Shirley, Audrey, Marshall, and Bettie. Gettie and Royal then moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and gave birth to their 9th child, Barbara. Later, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where they gave birth to their 10th child Mary Lou.
Gettie worked many years in the clothes cleaning business in Utah. Gettie was always very proud to talk about her exceptional, intelligent and beautiful children and grandchildren. Her son Lionel always said, “If you want a good recommendation, just call my MOTHER.” Gettie always considered her children’s spouses as if they were her own.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; 7 brothers; Leonard, Bill, Nycus, Noah, Wrinkle, George and Obie. Two sisters; Mary Katherine and her twin sister, Retta. her husband; Royal Marshall Lear. Her children; two sons Lionel Lear and Royal Jr. Lear. And two grandchildren; McKay Mangelson and Brandi Lear. And one Son in law, Duane Winkauf.
Gettie is survived by her children; two sons, Stanley Lear and his wife Velma of Humansville, MO; Marshall Lear and his wife Neu of Riverton, UT. Five daughters; Ramona Winkauf of Jasper, MN; Shirley and Dr. Evan Mangelson of Lehi, UT; Audrey and David Paulson or Oram, UT; Bettie and Roger Wright of Wheatland, MO and Mary and George Mecham of St. George, UT. Along with two daughters-in-law Retta and Arlene Lear. 46 grandchildren; Steve, Kim, Justin, Shanda, Donnie, Pam, Debbie, Bradley, Jerry, Greg, Stacie, Bruce, Jeannie, Janice, Cindi, Lorie, Mike, Kristie, Amy, Mathew, Audrey, David, Tyron, Natonya, Leif, Kristen, Patrick, Doug, Jeff, Misty, Tammy, Shellie, Terri, Lisa, Andrea, Nathan, Rachel, Sara, Rebekah, Lance, Terra, Tiffany, Ty, Sabra, and Brook. 120+ great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Along with many nieces and nephews, friends and her church family.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Hartquist
Funeral Home in Luverne, Minnesota, hosted by the children and grandchildren of Gettie. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
