Gilbert Martin (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Gilbert F. Martin , 96, of Bolivar, Mo, formerly of Ottawa, KS, passed away at his home, Saturday, January 7, 2017
He was born at Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the son of Henry and Della (Hoag) Martin. He attended schools in the Steamboat Springs area and graduated from Hayden Union High School in 1939. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma and graduated in 1949.
On August 13,1945, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Barber at her parents home in Wesson, Mississippi.
Gilbert was a Navy Veteran of World War II and was employed by the Wilson & Co., Inc. for thirty-five years. He was a devoted father, husband and respected member and leader of the community. He was a lifelong supporter of the American Royal and 4-H.
Surviving family include his three daughters, Rosane Marie Martin of Bolivar, MO, Jocelyn S. Martin of Jonesboro, AR and Katherine Dell Faulkner and her husband James of Bolivar, Missouri; grandchildren Joshua Faulkner and his wife Katie of Freeman, SD and Renee Elkins of Clarksville, TN, two great-grandsons, Trey and Jaron Elkins of Clarksville, TN; two great-granddaughters, Grace and Amelie Faulkner of Freeman, SD; one brother-in-law, Clark Barber; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Gilbert in death were his devoted wife Mary Jane; his parents, Henry and Della Martin; his only sister, Gladys Marie Martin and his only brother, Howard Martin.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday January 21, 2017 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Ottawa with a visitation at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to the service hour, Saturday. Interment will follow the memorial service at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ransom Memorial Hospital Charitable Association, Inc. and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, KS. 66067.
