Gilbert Vernon was the kindness man to little kids, he always had a smile on his face. When you came into his store he knew exactly who you were, and who your grandma was. I have such fond memories of coming to his store with my grandma, and Gilbert was always helping people. What fine man he was, so sorry for your lose. I know there are a lot of people better off for having known Gib., He will be missed.
I'm really going to miss Gilbert. When we met in the hallways at church, he would usually ask, "Linda, what do you know?" I usually answered him by saying, "Not much." One time, though, I was going to sing a song about how I might not know much, but I know that this world isn't my home. I told Gilbert my new answer was going to be, "All I know is I'm not home now." Well, Gilbert is home now and I'm sure he's rejoicing in the presence of the Lord. My sympathies are extended to the family as I know that you're missing his physical presence with you.
Olive, Martin, Carol, Susan and Lori - We are so sorry for your loss. Your dad was one of the kindest men and finest Christian gentleman that I have ever known. Honesty, love for Jesus and family, humility and work ethic were second to none. I consider myself very blessed to have known him and have called him a friend. Love, Mike, Becky and Gracie Simpson.
Sending prayers to your family at this time. I have such great memories of Gib. My late husband, Jay, and I spent lots of time at Vernons Market when we were young. Mr. Vernon always had a great smile on his face. May God Bless You and Your Family.
Vernon Family - I have such good memories of your father, of riding my bicycle to the grocery for candy and soda and also at church. He always had a smile and joke for us. Growing up in our neighborhood would not have been the same without him. I am so sorry for your loss. Rejoice in your memories and in the knowledge that we will all see him again in heaven.
Gib always had a smile and a good heart we will miss you .All my prayers are with you all.
Lori: I was very sad to hear about your dad. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I have so many memories was walking to Vernon's Market as a kid to get bedtime snackswhile staying at my grandparents.
