Gladys Fern Henson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Gladys Fern Henson, daughter of Everett Francis and Della Mae Casteel Decker, was born December 30, 1933, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, November 24, 2018, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, ten months, and twenty-five days.
On January 7, 1952, she was united in marriage to David Albert Henson and to this union three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David, on December 2, 2010; a son, Doug Henson; four brothers, Robert, Chester, Kenneth, and Donald Decker; and two sisters, Carol Burgess and Betty Rogers.
Gladys is survived by two sons, David A. Henson, Jr., of Lebanon, Missouri, and Danny Henson, and his wife, Shelly, of Hazelgreen, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Denice Henson, of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Melissa Perryman, Erin Dunn, Tracy Smith, and John Henson; two sisters-in-law, Carol and Mary Decker; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and received her education at Rippy School. After she and David were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their sons. Gladys was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family and also worked for the H. D. Lee Company for several years. She later was employed by Justice Furniture for a few years.
She enjoyed fishing for catfish, deer hunting, and quilting. She was an excellent cook and liked decorating cakes. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty-four years
