Gladys E. Weddle (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Gladys Elvira Weddle, daughter of Dennis William and Pearl Mable Lang Basnett, was born October 30, 1924, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, March 24, 2016, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, four months, and twenty-four days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wallace Monroe Weddle; a brother, Robert Aaron Basnett; and two sisters, Ellen Marie Hosea, and Vera Reynolds.
Gladys is survived by two daughters, Sharon Turner, and her husband, Larry, and Peggy Nalls, and her husband, Paul, all of Lebanon, Missouri; six sons, Stanley Weddle, and his wife, Carol Ann, of Kansas City, Missouri, Dennis Wayne Weddle, and his wife, Karen, of Fordland, Missouri, Paul Weddle, and his wife, Retta, Larry Weddle, and his wife, Jolene, Kenneth Weddle, and his wife, Donna, Roger Weddle, and his wife, Pam, all of Lebanon, Missouri; four step-daughters, Janice Milliken, and her husband, Bruce, Juanita Stucki, and Elaine Uder, and her husband, Gary, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Barbara Lee, and husband Ron, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; three step-sons, Jerry Weddle, Rex Weddle, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Kent Weddle, and his wife, Barb, of Falcon, Missouri; thirty-one grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Basnett, and his wife, Freida, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Lawrence Basnett, of Denver, Colorado; three sisters, Lucile Lusk, of Brighton, Colorado, Emma Pecchia, of North Port, Florida, and Mildred Rhodes, of Lake Lure, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon area and attended Lebanon R-III Schools. Throughout the years, Gladys was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and also operated a children’s day care in her home for many years.
Gladys was a longtime member of First Assembly of God Church in Lebanon.
She enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader of the Bible as well as other books. Her greatest happiness came from having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-one years.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church, and left at the funeral home.
