Glen Silas Jackson (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Glen Silas Jackson, of Elkland, MO, died October 18, 2024, at home. He is survived by his wife, Connie, of 17 years; one daughter Susan Diane and her husband Larry Ward of Independence, MO and one son Glen Alan Jackson of Elkland, MO. One son-n-law Paul Blair of Elkland, MO. One bonus-daughter Charlotte Ann and her husband Carlton Willimas of Elkins, AR and one bonus-son Conley Kay and his wife Kami Whittmore of Hindsville, AR. He leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great nephews. Glen also leaves behind many friends and family members.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents Silas W. Jackson and Mable M. (Arnold) Jackson, one son Bryan, one daughter Cynthia, one sister Evelyn and husband Phil Willhoite, one brother Wayne, one Aunt Maxine and her husband Hubert Corder.
Mr. Jackson was born on the family farm 6 miles East of Buffalo on June 10, 1935, and attended his first four years of grade school at the old “New Liberty” near the farm before the family moved to Jackson County. He graduated from High school at Drexal MO in 1952, then attended Williams Jewells College in Liberty, MO and graduated from Findley Engineering College in Kansas City, MO, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1961. He immediately started his career as a Project Engineer at Vendo Company. He received numerous awards for accomplishments in Engineering.
Mr. Jackson was baptized in 1953 into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, now the community of Christ where he served until his death. He held several offices including the first quorum of 70 in Minnesota district and Pastor of the Orono Congregation and the Red Wing Congregation, both which he organized and established and worked with Sammy Malone and Terry Robinson to organize the Buffalo, MO Mission.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, flying, trap shooting, traveling, studying Meya Hieroglyphics, Anthropology, Archaeology. and enjoyed studying scriptures with his Community of Christ family.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with visitation from 10-11 am and formal funeral service at 11 am with Rev. Byron Robison and Bruce Jones officiating. Following all services, burial will take place at Memorial gardens of Memory in Buffalo, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Community of Christ Church in Springfield, Missouri.
