Glenda Smith's Obituary
Jeffrey Lynn Smith, son of Jesse R. and Ocie Mae Batterson Smith, was born September 29, 1958, in Marshfield, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, October 9, 2009, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-one years, and ten days. Glenda Dorrlene Smith, daughter of James Russell and Helen Bruner Burney, was born September 29, 1961, in Ray, Arizona. She departed this life Friday, October 9, 2009, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of forty-eight years, and ten days. On December 13, 1997, Glenda and Jeffrey were united in marriage and shared the last eleven years. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents; an infant grandson, Stephen; and a brother, Tom Johnson. Glenda was preceded in death by her father; an infant grandson, Stephen; and a brother, Russell Burney. Jeffrey and Glenda are survived by four daughters, Cassandra Mathis, and her husband, Troy, of Richland, Missouri, Carla Jo Thomas, and her husband, Greg, and Christie Chatfield, and her husband, Thomas, and Miranda Smith, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Adam Smith, and Bradley Paul, both of Lebanon, Missouri; and sixteen grandchildren. Jeffrey is also survived by three brothers, Bob Jenkins, and his wife, Ann, of Springfield, Missouri, Roger Smith, and his wife, Debbie, and Randy Smith, and his wife, Pam, all of Phillipsburg, Missouri; three sisters, Marylis Medlicott, of Webb City, Missouri, Linda Kay Thomas, and her husband, John, of Joplin, Missouri, and Tammy Welch, and her husband, Lynndon, of Conway, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Glenda is also survived by her mother, Helen L. Burney, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, Robert Burney, and his wife, Shelley, of Alva, Oklahoma; two sisters, Carla Gibbs, and her husband, Donnie, and Carolyn Sellers, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Ann Burney; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Jeffrey was raised in the Phillipsburg, Missouri area and graduated from Conway High School. He worked for K-Way Manufacturing for several years, and then had been employed by Lowe Industries for over twenty years. Glenda was born in Arizona but was raised in Marshfield, Missouri, and then in Lebanon, where she attended Lebanon High School. In addition to being a devoted homemaker, she also worked at Tracker Marine for several years. Jeff and Glenda had both attended the Lighthouse Ministry Center and loved their Lord. Jeffrey enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was playing golf. He also was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He liked playing with his grandchildren and working on cars. He was a kind man who was dedicated to his family, and was always willing to be of help. Glenda liked listening to music and watching the Home & Garden Television Network. She was a strong willed person that was always willing to offer her opinion. She had a delightful sense of humor and enjoyed making diaper cakes for gifts. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Jeffrey was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. Glenda was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. Both Jeffrey and Glenda touched many people’s lives throughout the years, and their memories will live on in the hearts of their family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 14, 2009 at the at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Memorial Park. Visitation is Tuesday evening 7-8:30 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral in Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Lighthouse Ministries.
