Glenn Summerfield's Obituary
Glen William Summerfield, Sr., son of Clarence and Mary Caroline Reese Summerfield, was born December 20, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois. He departed this life Saturday, February 20, 2010, in Willow Care Nursing Home, Willow Springs, Missouri, at the age of eighty years and two months. On January 29, 1949, Glen was united in marriage to Mildred Evelyn Mitchell and to this union two sons and two daughters were born. Glen was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred, on March 27, 2007; five brothers, Bill, Harrison, Cecil, Bob and Paul; and four sisters, Jane Nosek, Betty Summerfield, Lucille Summerfield, and Rose Walper. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Plachy and husband, Keith, of Springfield, Missouri, and Glenda Bollinger and husband, Don, of Willow Springs, Missouri; two sons, Dennis Summerfield and wife, Yvonne, of Trinidad, Texas, and Glen Summerfield, Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren, ClairAnn Muddiman, Jayson Durden, and Malissa Summerfield; three great-grandchildren, Grace Muddiman, Aubrey Muddimann, and Mahala Rodriguez; a brother Clarence Summerfield; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Glen spent his younger years in Chicago. Following his marriage to Mildred, they made their home in Saint Louis and later Thayer, Missouri. In 2001, Glen and Mildred moved to Mountain Grove and then Springfield. Glen was raised Church of Christ and accepted the Lord before his passing. He was devoted to his family and friends. Glen loved spending time with his family and always had a joke. He was full of life and was very outgoing. In his spare time, Glen loved playing cards and enjoyed trading cars. He would always try to make a deal on anything he could. Glen was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 24, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Mansfield. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until time of service under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
