Glennis Foust's Obituary
Glennis Louise Foust, daughter of Joel Albert and Mina B. Marshall Carden, was born April 12, 1920, near Phillipsburg, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Olathe Medical Center, in Olathe, Kansas, at the age of eighty-eight years, one month, and three days. On April 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Ovid Farrell Foust, and to this union two daughters and one son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ovid, on March 7, 1987; and four sisters, Dorothy Caffey, Bernell Caffey, Gladys Stout, and Thelma Ennis. Glennis is survived by two daughters, Louise Dodson, and her husband, John, of Lenexa, Kansas, and Marlene McBee, of Raytown, Missouri; a son, Ovid Foust, Jr., of Chesterfield, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Terri Foust, of Independence, Missouri; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Neta Carden, of Kansas City, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; a special friend, Carol Branstetter, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Phillipsburg community and graduated from Phillipsburg High School. Early in her adult years, she worked at the Rice Stix Factory and then at Mott’s Packing Plant. After she and Ovid were married, they made their home in Laclede County, near Phillipsburg, Missouri, and lovingly raised their children. Throughout most of her life, she was a devoted and hard working homemaker to her husband and family. Glennis was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ and was very active in the Lee’s Summit Church of Christ for as long as her health would allow. In her spare time she enjoyed doing counted cross stitch projects and sewing quilt blocks. She also liked caring for her home, helping her daughters, and having weekly conversations with her son. She loved her family dearly and greatly enjoyed spending time with them and her friends. Glennis was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will treasure the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Return to top
