Goldie Bennett's Obituary
Goldie Mae Proctor Murrell Bennett, daughter of James Wesley and Rachael Bessie Coons Proctor, was born July 22, 1925, in Huntsville, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, January 29, 2010, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, six months, and seven days. On December 11, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lowell Howard Murrell, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born. Mr. Murrell passed away on December 10, 1988. On April 22, 1993, she married Rev. Jeff Bennett, who passed away on December 31, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James Edward and Arthur Murrell; three brothers, Gene, Carl, and Raymond Proctor; and three sisters, Gladys Proctor, Lucille Cook, and Dorothy Mathews. Goldie is survived by three daughters, Wilma Alvis, of Macks Creek, Missouri, Judy Burgess, and her husband, Ted, and Shirley Murrell, all of Lebanon, Missouri; twenty grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Luthy, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Velma Coffman, and her husband, Billy, of Richland, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was raised in the Falcon and Nebo areas. After she and Howard were married, they made their home in the Winnipeg, Missouri community before moving to Sunnyview. Throughout the years, Goldie was a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her family and also worked as a cook at Breech Medical Center in Lebanon for several years. After she and Jeff were married, they made their home near Lebanon. Goldie had made her profession of faith in Christ and attended the Sunnyview Church. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, sewing and cooking. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Goldie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 3, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be at Crossroads Cemetery Visitation is Tuesday evening 6-7:30 p.m.under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
