Gordon H. Mizer (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Gordon H. Mizer, son of Herbert and Addie Henson Mizer, was born June 16, 1924, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, September 6, 2014, in Quail Creek Skilled Nursing, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, two months, and twenty days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Floyd Mizer; and two sisters, Florene and Bernita Mizer.
Gordon is survived by two brothers, Don Mizer, and his wife, Carol, of Springfield, Missouri, and Clifton Mizer, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Mary Lou Johnson, and her husband, Jerry, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Long Lane community and attended Flag Pond School. He then moved into Lebanon, where he lived most of his life. He was a devoted son, and helped care for his mother during the last years of her life. Gordon was employed as a machine mechanic by the Rice Stix Factory and then by the H. D. Lee Company for a total of forty-four years.
Gordon had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church, near Long Lane.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also liked to bowl and played on a league for many years. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed sharing special times together.
Gordon was a devoted family man and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be made to the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church, and left at the funeral home.
