Gregory Andrew Spears (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Gregory Andrew Spears was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 27, 1949 to Jack and Geraldine Spears. He traveled to many states for work with his father and brothers, but spent the majority of his childhood in Melbourne, Florida. In his teens they moved to Hollywood, Florida where at the age of Eighteen, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he ranked sergeant in the Vietnam War. He was a combat engineer where he received two Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, and many other medals. He took great pride in fighting for his country.
He met his wife Connie of almost 50 years while on leave in 1970. Together they had four children. He worked very hard to provide for his family. He loved many things including his chicken, horses, hunting, and collecting several different items, but most of all his family and friends.
Gregory was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Geraldine Spears, and one brother: Rodger Spears. He is survived by his wife, Connie Spears; four children, Melinda & husband Gary Dennis, James Spears, Billy & wife Amanda Spears, and Jennifer & husband Eric Lamb; three brothers, Wayne & wife Louise Spears, Jack Spears, Clint & wife Kim Spears; nine grandchildren, Kayla, Katti, Claudia, Chelcie, Colby, Jaykob, Justice, Justyne, and Brooklyn; and many friends and other family who will dearly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Dusty Armstrong officiating. Escorts will be Billy Spears, James Spears, Eric Lamb, Gary Dennis, Jaykob Spears, and Colby Spears. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Veteran’s organization of the donor’s choice.
