Gregory E. Whipple (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Gregory Eldon Whipple, son of Keith Eldon and Glenda (Lightwine) Whipple, was born on July 9, 1962 in Shawnee Mission, KS and departed this life on August 21, 2024 at his home near Windyville, MO. At the time of his passing he was 62 years, one month, and 11 days of age.
Greg spent his early years in Grandview, KS before moving to the Lebanon, MO and later to Dallas County. He was born with a heart condition and wasn’t supposed to live past his 20’s. He always felt blessed to live a long life and have his family full of girls, he was the perfect girl dad. He graduated from Buffalo High School and continued his education at State Fair Community College. After graduation he went to work delivering and spreading lime and fertilizer and worked as a Lineman for Laclede Electric. His heart though belonged on the farm where he enjoyed raising his beef cattle, pigs, and chickens. Greg was united in marriage to Kelly Monnahan in July of 1995. He was very involved in his community, serving in the 4-H archery program, the Dallas County Cattlemen’s Association, the Dallas County Farm Bureau, and MFA Oil.
Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, Claude & Jerel Whipple and Henry & Faye Lightwine and one granddaughter, Victoria Nienhueser. He is survived by his wife Kelly; four daughters, Katrina Nienhueser, Shelby & husband Scott Wieferich, Anna Whipple, and Emily Whipple; six grandchildren, Cameron, Layne, and Ryleigh Nienhueser, and Aileena, Aspen, Arlyn Wieferich; and one brother, Brian Whipple. He also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. John Long and Father Charles Peirano officiating. Escorts will be David Andrews, Steve Patten, John Long, Mike Rackley, Alan Lightwine, and Wayne Hardison. Honorary escorts will be Layne Nienhueser, Cameron Nienhueser, and Scott Wieferich. Interment will be in the Scrivener Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 6:00-:00 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Scrivener Cemetery.
