To say that she was "the life of the party" would be an understatement. The first time I met her was at a German Restaurant. I was listening to the music and started singing the German song that was playing in German. You think I had won the Noble Prize. She sang along and we had a grand old time. Now she's with Lowell, who was quite a handsome fellow himself. Life is going to be emptier because I can no longer sing to her

My son and I met you're mother on a Sunnyland Tour, a few years ago. She hugged both of us, not because she knew us but because we we're from Lebanon. We loved her life stories. She told of her coming from Germany and surviving the holocaust. She loved Mr. Hoke so much and talked of him teaching at LHS. She loved Lebanon. My son also loved listening to her. Wish she had lived here, would have loved to have talked to her again. Hope she knew how many lives she touched.

Alexa,Sylvia, and Gene,
I have fond memories of both your parents and my visits to your home during high school.
It was always an adventure getting out of the car while the Weimaraner' s were circling the perimeter,
but once inside, there was always the smell of something yummy baking and your mom's exuberant greeting.
When Cindy and I were younger I always tried to catch a glimpse of you girls at church. Your mom always had you dressed so beautifully. It seemed very exotic to see clothes so different from what we saw in the Sears catalog.

My heart is breaking. I loved your Mother and Father so much. I met them right after 9/11 when your Mom said nothing was going to stop her from traveling. Her zest for life was incredible and beautiful to watch. Their love story was just as beautiful. I hope they are happily sitting on a gorgeous beach watching the waves, holding hands, happy to be together once more.

'My favorite memory, and there were lots of them, happened at Walmart. I had'nt seen her for some time and that particular day she was wearing a leather coat of many colors. I commented on how much I liked it. She immediately took it off and said ........Here, you can have it! I tried to decline the offer......but she wasn't going to have it any other way. Every time I run across that coat, I smile and think what a sweet and kind woman she was. I will pray for your family. She will be missed.

I wanted you to know that I always enjoyed my few visits and encounters with Hanna. I am distantly related to you. My mom was Mary Hoke Burd and her brother , my uncle, was David Hoke. I believe my grandfather M.B. Hoke was your dad’s uncle but I
am not sure. Your mom and dad were always present at the loss of family members. I remember visiting with them at visitations or over lunch before or after a funeral. Occasionally, I would run into them at the Mall. They always seemed glad to visit and catch up on family members I could tell them about. Your mom was such a gracious woman and radiated a love of people. She was always friendly, engaging. I know you will miss her. Sorry for your loss.

dear Alexa & family, my father told me today that my mother (Agnes Southard) helped train your mother at the Nelson Hotel, when she came here in 1955 (?). she was always sweet and so polite. I know how much it hurts to lose her, but remember, she will always be in your heart.
