Harlin Kent Neil (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Harlin Kent Neil, a beloved husband, father, and dedicated member of his community, passed away on April 8, 2024, in Bolivar, Missouri, at the age of 86. He was born on June 19, 1937, in Eudora, Missouri, to Herbert and Anna Novella (Wyant) Neil.
Harlin grew up in the Eudora area, but spent his entire adult life in Bolivar, Missouri, where he cultivated deep roots and lasting relationships. He graduated from Morrisville High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and service.
On June 10, 1956, Harlin married the love of his life, Patty Hopkins. Their union was blessed with love, companionship, and shared dreams. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Harlin dedicated many years of his life to the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT), where he served with diligence and integrity until his well-deserved retirement. Upon retiring, he pursued his passion for agriculture and cattle farming, finding joy and fulfillment in working and caring for his livestock until his final days.
Harlin and Patty were faithful members of the Bolivar First Assembly of God, where they found solace, community, and spiritual guidance.
Harlin Kent Neil will be remembered fondly for his unwavering commitment to his family, his strong work ethic, and his generous spirit. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patty Neil, his children, Lisa Lechner and Joy Sass, and seven grandchildren, as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Harlin's life will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Aldrich, Missouri on Thursday, April 11 starting at 2:30 PM. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11 from 1 - 2 PM before the service at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
