Harold "Dean" Barnhart (Buffalo)'s Obituary
In Loving Memory: Harold Dean Barnhart
12/19/1942 – 5/23/2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Harold Dean Barnhart on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He valiantly battled Alzheimer's disease and dementia for many years, but his struggle came to an end as he found solace and eternal rest at Azalea Gardens in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Dean was surrounded by his loving family, who provided unwavering support throughout his journey.
Born on December 19, 1942, in Van Cleve, Missouri to the late Harold Woodrow and Cathryn Rachel (Reavis) Barnhart, Dean graduated from Vienna High School. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Daniel Barnhart. He was united in marriage to the late Joyce Faye (Prater) Depping in 1963 and to this marriage, three children were born, all of whom survive him.
Dean married Beverly (Hosier) Barnhart on September 12, 2014. Their marriage was a true testament to love, commitment, and companionship, as they celebrated eight years of unwavering devotion. Dean enjoyed restoring antique cars, driving Corvettes and spending time on the farm. He was a master deal maker, smooth talker and was always looking for a good deal. Dean also loved being a truck driver and seeing the country during the many miles he spent over the road.
Although Alzheimer's and dementia may have clouded Dean's memories and skewed his behavior in his later years, his legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of his family. His spirit of resilience will forever guide them in their own lives, inspiring them to embrace each day with gratitude and compassion.
Dean will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Beverly, his children Col. Richard (Rick) Dean Barnhart & wife Veronica Susan Barnhart, Samantha Jo (Hubbard) Coble & husband David (Dave) Eric Coble, Latisha Leann Boothe, and his grandchildren Bethany Paige Barnhart (Hicks) & fiancé Jeramie Allen Hicks, William (Will) Dean Barnhart & wife Monserrat Barnhart, Haley Cathryn Hubbard, Alexander (Alex) Cole Hubbard, Mitchell Thomas Boothe, and Molly Faye Boothe, his step-granddaughter Desiree Ann Cummings, his great-grandsons Huntly Allen Hicks, Oakley Dean Hicks, and the numerous relatives and friends who were fortunate to know him.
A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Dean's remarkable life at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in the Canton-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Pastor David Coble officiating. Escorts will be Doug Fox, Will Barnhart, Dave Coble, Alex Hubbard, Rob Manning and Mike Baumgardner. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Views Funeral Home of Buffalo. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, as a tribute to Dean.
Amid our grief, let us also find solace in knowing that Dean has found eternal peace, where memories are restored, and his spirit remains forever young. May his soul rest in eternal serenity.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and very dear."
