Harold Denney's Obituary
Harold Lloyd Denney, son of McKinley and Ruth (Johns) Denney was born May 24, 1932 in Douglas County, Missouri. He departed this life March 29, 2012 in South Cox Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-nine years, ten months and five days.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son Thomas Denney; his sister Ethylene Hunholz; and his two nephews Jeromy and Doug Denney.
Harold leaves behind his daughter Carolyn Huizenga of Fairbanks, Alaska; his grandson Thomas Huizenga of the state of Oregon; his sisters Glenda Mingus and husband John of Seymour, Missouri and Patsy Ice and husband Charles of Springfield, Missouri; his brothers Keith Denney, Wallace Denney, Dale Denney and wife Carol, Lonnie Denney and wife Joyce all of Seymour, Missouri and Norman Denney of Forsyth; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
He grew up in the surrounding area, hunting and fishing the Ozark hills. Harold went to Seymour Schools until he turned seventeen. In June of 1949, he was inducted into the United States Army and he faithfully served his country during the Korean conflict while station in Fairbanks, Alaska. After the service Harold continued to stay in Fairbanks where he first worked for the power plant. In the early 1970’s, Harold moved back to the Ozarks to connect with his roots.
Harold was a storyteller who never missed the details, from his Grizzly bear tales in Alaska to his treasure hunts in the flea markets, you felt as though you were right there with him. He never met a stranger and always had time to visit. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially enjoyed working in his yard and was an avid gardener.
A loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a good neighbor and friend, Harold Denney leaves behind a legacy of faithful service and care for his country, his family and his neighbors. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories he made for all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services for Harold Lloyd Denney will be Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Holman Howe Funeral Home of Seymour.
