Harold Dunning (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Harold Wayne Dunning, 76 years of age, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away on August 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Harold was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 8, 1948, to Ray and Carolina Dunning. He graduated from Lee’s Summit High School and the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. He met Karolyn Watters Stone in 1973. They were married June 14, 1974. Harold worked for Black and Veatch, J. F. Pritchard, and Burns & McDonnell for a total of 45 years. In 2001 Harold and Karolyn purchased Indian Hill Resort in Pittsburg, Missouri at Pomme de Terre Lake and operated the resort for 13 years. In 2014 they finally retired and moved to Polk County, Missouri. Harold was a founding member of the Lee’s Summit Underwater Recovery Unit in the summer of 1966. He was an active member until 1977. He enjoyed scuba diving, sky diving, woodworking, and many outdoor activities. He will be remembered for his work ethic, marvelous sense of humor, and his love of life. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Robert. Harold is survived by his wife, Karolyn, his five children, Brad Dunning, Beverly Dann, Marcia Shami, Doug Stone, and Pam Oberhelman, his brother, George, and 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two nephews. The family is planning a celebration of life open house at their home on August 23rd from 10:00-4:00 for friends and family.
