Harold Lee "Hal" Emerson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Harold Lee “Hal” Emerson, son of Harold G. Crum and Ann Ward Emerson, was born November 11, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas. He departed this life Thursday, February 13, 2020, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, three months, and two days.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Gement, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Barbara and Janet.
“Hal”, as he was called by all of his family and friends, is survived by a son, Doug Crum, and his wife, Virginia, of Lebanon, Missouri; two daughters, DaLinda Wellington, and her husband, Brian, of Albany, Oregon, and Kerri Smith, of the State of Arizona; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and then entered the military as a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force including three tours of active duty. He was awarded various medals and awards for his service including the Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged from the military, Hal moved to Oregon and made his home in Salem, where he was a bus driver for many years. He was active in the Amalgamated Transit Union where he served as president. He recently moved to Lebanon and made his home.
He had a love for music, liked square dancing and had taught square dancing lessons. He also enjoyed singing in a barbershop quartet. His family was very important to him and Barbara was the love of his life.
Hal was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
