Harold Lansdown's Obituary
Harold Junior “Shorty” Lansdown, son of Virgil Hubert and Amie (Moore) Lansdown, was born July 8, 1944 in Hartville, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, June 28, 2009 in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, eleven months, and twenty days. On June 25, 1963 he was united in marriage to Judy Kay Carriger and to this union one daughter and one son was born. He was preceded in death by his father and father-in-law.
Shorty is survived by his loving wife, Judy, of the home; two children, Syrena, and her husband, Rick, and Michael, and his wife, Becky, all of Hartville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Derek, Cory, Dakota and Katie; one great-granddaughter, Lilly Grace, and was greatly anticipating the birth of another great-grandchild; his mother, Amie Lansdown, of Hartville, Missouri; three brothers, Clifford, Howard, and Delvin Lansdown, all of Hartville, Missouri; a sister, Wanda Lathrom, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Ida Buck, of Hartville, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
He was born and raised in Hartville and graduated from Hartville High School in the class of 1962. After he met and married Judy they remained in Hartville all of his life except a few years they lived in Kansas City, Missouri. He had worked many years in road construction and was always willing to help neighbors put up hay.
Shorty loved being with friends and family, having BBQ’s and cooking for everybody. He had a special love for his grandchildren; they were the light of his life. In his spare time he enjoyed visiting at local restaurants, and fishing and hunting, in his early years he was involved with the Coon Hunter Association.
Shorty was a kind and caring man with a big heart. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories he has created for his family and friends.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in Holman-Howe Chapel, of Hartville, Missouri with burial in Steele Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 7:00-8:30 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home. A memorial has been established and may be made through Holman-Howe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hartville, Missouri 65667.
