Harold Henry Massey (Hartville)'s Obituary
Harold Henry Massey, son of Alma Marie (Mackie) and the late Herman Leslie Massey, was born November 7, 1943, in Grovespring, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Missouri, at the age of seventy years, two months and one day.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Leslie, in October of 2000.
Henry is survived by four daughters, Leslie Scaggs of West Plains, Missouri, Lisa Street and husband, Craig, Stacey Massey, and Cathy Massey, all of Springfield, Missouri; his mother, Alma Marie Mackie Massey, of Grovespring, Missouri; brother, Gary Massey and wife, Judy, of Grovespring, Missouri; two granddaughters, Leah Tidwell and husband, Dustin, and Kayla Ell and husband, Nathan; three grandsons, Zachary and Nathan Street, and Dylan Scaggs; three great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Payton Tidwell and Natalie Ell; niece, Elizabeth Van Ness and husband, Allen, and their two children, Olivia and Mason; nephew, James Massey and wife, Andrea (Lela); many aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friend, Marline Myers, of Lynchburg, Missouri.
Henry grew up in the Grovespring area and attended Grovespring Elementary School. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1959, at the age of 16.
Henry was a Vietnam combat veteran, having proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He was a farmer and retired rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.
Henry loved square dancing with Marline. He was a collector of all things. He enjoyed researching genealogy with his father and continued to study family history after his father's passing. He had a passion for photography, especially family photos. He also loved his second home in south Texas, where he and Marline spent much of their time.
Henry was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and companion. We celebrate his life and patriotic spirit, and we will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.
