Harold Slemp (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Harold Eugene Slemp, age 68, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Born on October 7, 1956, in Springfield, Missouri, Harold was the beloved son of Charles Harold Slemp and Helen Isabelle Howe. A proud graduate of Central High School, he held a variety of jobs throughout his life, but found his true calling in dairy farming, a profession he dedicated himself to for more than 30 years.
Harold had a lifelong passion for auto racing, especially stock car racing, and took great pride in restoring classic Willy's Jeeps. Harold enjoyed cooking for others and catered many birthdays, and other celebrations over the years. Harold found joy in classic rock and country music, old western movies, good barbecue, and bargain hunting at auctions.
Above all, Harold will be remembered for his generous spirit, infectious sense of humor, and unwavering love for family and friends. He had a remarkable gift for lighting up a room, and his kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Harold is survived by his son, Adam Slemp; his longtime partner of over 30 years, Diana Samek; and his sisters, Pat Samek (husband Ed Samek) and Sandra Samek. He is also lovingly remembered by Diana’s children, Jodi Freifeld and Josh Samek, and their families. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, leaving behind a large extended family who will carry forward his memory with love.
Harold will be deeply missed, and his legacy of warmth, humor, and hard work will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in Bolivar, Missouri.
