Harriett Hodge's Obituary
Harriett Lorraine Hodge, daughter of Lars and Virginia Louise (Hornsby) Hansen was born April 24, 1942 in Tracy, California. She departed this life, Tuesday, October 12, 2010 in Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri at the age of sixty-eight years, five months, and eighteen days.
On July 2, 1960 Lorraine was united in marriage to James F. Hodge and to this union a daughter and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Arthur and Bernice Ladd; and her parents-in-law, Fred and Vernice Hodge.
Lorraine is survived by her loving and devoted husband of fifty years, Jim, of the home; two sons, James B. Hodge and David S. Hodge, both of Seymour, Missouri; one daughter, Lori-Anne Roberts and her husband, Jeff, of Springfield, Missouri; a granddaughter, Taylor N. Hodge; a grandson, Carter W. Roberts; a brother, Kenneth Armstrong and his wife, Ellen, of Milwaukie, Oregon; a sister, Pam Honea, Placerville, California; and a number of nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.
She grew up in Placerville, California and graduated from Eldorado County High School. She and Jim were married in California and in 1969 they moved to the Seymour, Missouri area to make their home. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her family, she also worked as a rural mail carrier for Route # 2 in Seymour for several years.
Lorraine had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and attended the Seymour Full Gospel Church and Seymour Freewill Baptist Church and had most recently attended James River Assembly in Ozark, Missouri.
In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, quilting and reading. She loved traveling with her husband and spending time with her family.
Lorraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will forever cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and all those who knew and loved her.
Services are 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010 in Holman-Howe Chapel in Seymour, with Rev. Gordon Heckendorn officiating. Burial will be in Seymour Masonic Cemetery under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.
