Harry J. Carmichael, Jr. (Seymour)'s Obituary
Harry James Carmichael, Jr., son of Harry James, Sr., and Margaret Mae Wilson Carmichael, was born February 11, 1936, in Columbia, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, July 22, 2016 in his home, at the age of eighty-years, five months and eleven days.
On October 6, 1970, Harry was united in marriage to Marcella Ann Brown, and together they have shared the past forty-six years. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings; a granddaughter; and his father-in-law, Lloyd Brown. Harry is survived by his wife, Marcella, of the home; his children, Lloyd Henry, of Seymour, Missouri, Kara Henry, of Everton, Missouri, LaDebra Wyatt and husband Donald, of Springfield, Missouri, Donald Carmichael, of Springfield, Victor Carmichael, of Morrilton, Arkansas, Tina Moffis and husband Curtis, of Seymour, Tammy Smith and husband Mike, of Seymour, Wayne Sater and wife Debbie, of Springfield, and Harry J. Carmichael III and wife Rosetta, of Nixa, Missouri; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanie Ott and husband Don, of Lakeland, Florida; a nephew, Hugh Grubaugh, of Piketon, Ohio; his mother-in-law, Ina Brown, of Aldridge, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Harry was born in Columbia, Missouri, and moved to Ohio as a young child. He worked for many large bakeries throughout the years until his retirement in 1990. Harry and his family moved to Seymour following his retirement. He was a member of the Local Bakers Union #245 of the BCAT. He was also a member of the Friends of the Seymour Library, and volunteered for many years at several local homeless shelters. In his spare time, Harry enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.
