Harry M. Gladden (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Harry Martin Gladden, son of Martin Jefferson and Lois Irene Porter Gladden, was born July 25, 1950, in Vidalia, Georgia. He departed this life Friday, June 3, 2016, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-five years, ten months, and nine days.
On May 3, 1997, he was united in marriage to Nancy Kathryn Simmons, and they shared the last nineteen years.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, John Elbert Gladden.
Harry is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of the home; a daughter, Marion Marie Atkins, and her husband, Maurice, of Independence, Missouri; a son, Matthew Lee Gladden, and his wife, Stefanie, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; three step-daughters, Marcia Calton, and her husband, Terry, Tonia Calton, and her husband, John, all of Grovespring, Missouri, and Carolyn Daniels, of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Gabriel and Hannah Gladden, Adam, Zachary, Emily, William, Abby and Noah Calton; his mother, Lois Swigert, of Lebanon, Missouri; four brothers, Don Gladden, and his wife, Linda, of Springfield, Missouri, Steve Gladden, of Bakersfield, Calfornia, Ben Gladden, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Kenneth Gladden, of Lebanon, Missouri; four sisters, Marion Bradshaw, and her husband, Mark, of Bakersfield, California, Janice Caudle, and her husband, Keith, Jean Loke, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Judy Shelton, and her husband, Craig, of St. Louis, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Georgia and Alabama, and then lived in Alaska and California. While living in California, he worked as a mechanic. He later moved to Missouri, and made his home near Lebanon, and began working in construction for awhile with his brother, Don.
Harry professed his faith in Christ in 2008 and had made his peace with the Lord.
He was always picking up turtles and enjoyed rescuing them. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He possessed a delightful sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
