Harvey Sartin's Obituary
Harvey Naroy Sartin, son of Benjamin Franklin and Erma Ollie (Cox) Sartin, was born February 26, 1924, near Seymour in Webster County, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, April 19, 2010, in his home near Seymour, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, one month, and twenty-four days. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Loy Dain and Dorsey Sartin; a half-brother, Doyle Sartin; a half-sister, Eddith Mathews; two nephews, Ronnie and James Sartin; and a niece, Bonnie Mathews. Harvey is survived by a sister, Helen Wilson, of Peyton, Colorado; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born in a log cabin on his family farm and grew up there, and continued to live on the farm the rest of his life. He was a farmer and raised stock cattle and spent several years as a livestock dealer. Harvey was the caretaker of the Cardwell Chapel Cemetery near his home for many years and took pride in keeping it mowed and maintained. The bridge that crossed the Finley River near Cardwell Chapel was named “The Harvey Sartin Bridge” after he cut the ribbon to officially open it. He had followed the Baptist faith throughout his life. Harvey was an avid horseman, who loved his horses and enjoyed competing in horse shows and being a member of the Seymour Saddle Club. Besides working with his horses, he was an expert fisherman and loved to hunt with his nephews and friends. Harvey was a kind and gentle man who was always ready to help his friends and neighbors. He worked hard to keep his farm going and spent endless hours maintaining it. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories he created for his family and many friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday April 22, 2010 in the Holman-Howe funeral home, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
