Hazel Bruce (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Hazel Marrion Bruce, daughter of Elmer Knight Gallup and Lillian Mae Warrender Gallup, was born October 28, 1929, in Bozrah, Connecticut, and departed this life on Saturday, March 21, 2020, in her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, surrounded by her family, at the age of ninety years, four months and twenty-three days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fred Bruce; daughter, Debra Pearce; siblings, great-grandchild, John Pearce, Jr.; great-great-grandchild, Dakota Johnson. Hazel is survived by her grandchildren, John and Stephanie Pearce, Karen and Bud Gill, Alma and Rob Carr, Jenifer and Hobie Johnson; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Amanda Johnson, Donald Willette Jr., Joseph Willette, Benjamin Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Jerid Gill, Isabella Gill, Jackson Pearce, Logan Pearce, Peter Wallin, and Toby Adams; great-great-grandchildren, Amara Johnson, Zoey Johnson, and Phoebe Johnson; as well as other relatives and friends. Hazel lived a full active life. She loved going to Bingo and made a point to teach every grandchild and great-grandchild how to play bingo at the casino, VFW, firehouse, or church when they were old enough to go. She loved to go to yard sales and would find some of the oddest things fascinating. Some of Hazel’s favorite times were spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren sitting around the kitchen table playing cards. It was at these times she would cuss and discuss the finer points of “Granny always wins”, even when she didn’t. If we laughed or gloated at our win, she yell at us to “Shut up you face”. Every grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchild has introduced “Gram”,”Granny”, “MeMe”, or “GG”, to his or her favorite cartoon and she loved watching the toons with each and every kid.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Flowers and memorial contributions made be made through Holman-Howe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 199 Mansfield, MO 65704.
