Hazel Eidson's Obituary
Hazel Maxine Snelling Eidson, daughter of George Washington and Mary Jane Burrous Bowden, was born, May 14, 1936 in Camden County, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, October 9, 2007 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of seventy-one years, four months and twenty-five days. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Gene Snelling and Ross Eidson; a daughter, Janet R. Snelling; two brothers, Russell and Earl Bowden; and a sister, Mary Mae Bowden. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Mauzy and her husband, Jeffery, of Osage Beach, Missouri; two sons, Robert Snelling and his wife, Norma, of Stoutland, Missouri, and John Snelling and his companion, Bernice, of Pueblo, Colorado; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl Bowden and his wife, Dorothy, of Phoenix City, Alabama, Paul Bowden of Brumley, Missouri and Jim Bowden and his wife, Linda, of Gravois Mills, Missouri; numerous foster children and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was raised in Camden County and graduated from Camdenton High School in the class of 1954. She worked for Camdenton Floral for a time then owned and operated Hub City Florist for several years. She later helped open the first Wal-Mart in Camdenton then worked for Tan-Tar-A, Daylight Doughnuts and later Gerbes Floral. She made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Camdenton. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, painting, doing crafts and reading. Her biggest passion was children and she served as a foster parent for many years. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and foster mother and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2007, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Gravedside service and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2007, in the New Hope Cemetery, Kaiser, Missouri. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Memorials to the Bible Baptist Church may be made through the funeral home.
