Hazel L Holiday (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Hazel Lorene Holiday, daughter of Robert L. “Bud” and Mittie Jones Gilpin, was born January 24, 1928, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, May 12, 2013, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, three months, and eighteen days.
On June 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Floral Eugene “F.E.” Holiday, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, F.E. on July 30, 2012; a son, Donald Dean Holiday; a brother, Harold Gilpin; and a sister, Gladys Holiday.
Hazel is survived by a daughter, Roxanne Millard, and her husband, Galen, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; a granddaughter, Leesa Millard; a great-granddaughter, Mercedes Padgett; a sister, Lois Forgey, of Strafford, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Phillipsburg and Conway area, and attended Phillipsburg Schools. After she and F.E. were married, they made their home in the Phillipsburg community, and Hazel was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
Hazel had made her profession of belief in Christ and followed the Freewill Baptist faith.
She enjoyed music and loved to play the guitar and sing. She liked antiques and enjoyed going to flea markets and antique stores. She was an excellent cook and was especially known for her wonderful pies. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed having her family around her.
Hazel was a loving mother, nanny, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
