On March 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Eugene Newell, and to this union three daughters and one son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; three brothers, Henry Forrest, Burtle Lee, and Arthur “Ott” Dean Young; and a sister, Susie Allie Worley. Hazel is survived by three daughters, Annie Prock, and her husband, Mark, of Falcon, Missouri, Judy Sien, and her husband, Delbert, and Ellen Ruble, and her husband, Scotty, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Richard Newell, and his wife, Silvia, of Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Dallas County, Missouri. She was a hardworking homemaker and devoted her life to selflessly raising her children. In the early 1970’s, Hazel worked as a housekeeper and dishwasher at the Commercial Hotel in Lebanon. She later was a nurse’s assistant at a private residential nursing home in Lebanon for several years. Hazel spent the last several years of employment as a dishwasher at Bennett Spring Dining Lodge. In the late 1980’s, she retired to devote herself to caring for her ailing sister. Hazel had made her profession of belief in Christ and followed the Baptist faith. She liked working in her garden and enjoyed canning and sharing the fruits of her labor with her children and other family members. Her vast array of flowers brightened her home both inside and out. Family was always foremost in her life and she greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
