Hazel Waters' Obituary
Hazel Waters, daughter of George Harrison and Millie Jane Rector Stidham, was born September 10, 1912 near Eldridge, Missouri. She departed this life, Friday, October 13, 2006, in her home, at the age of ninety-four years, one month, and three days. She was united in marriage to Zeph Wayne Waters on February 5, 1929, and to this union seven children were born. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on November 4, 1986, two children, Linda and Howard Waters, a step-son, Herschel Waters, a grandson, Dale Waters, and three great-great grandchildren. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Lavon Thompson, and husband, Roy, June Westpfahl, and husband, Stanley, all of Eldridge, Missouri, Laverne Helmer, and husband, Frankie, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kathron Simpson, and husband, Wayne, of Springfield, Missouri; a son, Byron D. Waters, and his wife, Ann, of Camdenton, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, twenty-one great-great-grandchildren, the Smith Family as honorary grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Hazel was born near Eldridge and had lived her entire life in that community. She was a devoted homemaker and her life was centered around her family. She had made her profession of faith many years ago, and was a charter member of the Ira Missionary Baptist Church. The church was very important to her and she was involved in all its activities. In her spare time, she loved fishing, growing beautiful flowers and vegetables in her garden. She especially loved her church and the fellowship and joy that it brought her. Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she made for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Hufft Cemetery, near Eldridge. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to St. John's Hospice may be made through the funeral home.
