Helen L. Bennett (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Helen Louise Bennett, daughter of James C. and Ruby Naoma Day Brown, was born June 8, 1938, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, February 17, 2014, at Christian Health Care South, Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, eight months, and nine days.
On November 8, 1957, Helen was united in marriage to Omer Lee Bennett and to the union three daughters and seven sons were born. Omer and Helen enjoyed fifty-one years together until his passing on February 24, 2009.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steven Bennett; a daughter-in-law, Marcella Bennett; two sisters, Sharon Brown and Mary Jean Tolen; two brothers, Anthony Brown and Teddy Brown; and two grandsons, Christopher Bennett and Bryant Hoffman.
Helen is survived by three daughters, Kathy Jewell and her husband, Roger, of the Dominican Republic, Teresa Sherrer and her husband, Larry, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Judy Carmichael and her husband, Jim, of Springfield, Missouri; six sons, Micheal W. Bennett and his significant other, Michele Furrow, Mark Bennett and his wife, Peggy, Teddy Bennett and his wife, Brenda, Kevin Bennett, Timothy Bennett, and Larry Bennett, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Karen Heafley, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Lebanon where she and Omer lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker, Helen had worked at Wallace Hospital, H.D. Lee, and operated a pet shop and a green house for a time.
She was saved and baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church as a teenager.
Helen enjoyed tending her flowers and taking care of her pet shop. She had a delightful sense of humor and loved playing games, especially marbles, with her family and grandchildren.
Helen’s family will treasure the wonderful memories of their loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt that she created with them through the years.
