Helen Breshears (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Virginia Helen Breshears, 104, Bolivar, went to be with her Lord on Thursday evening, July 5, 2018. Helen was born on December 11, 1913 to William (Bill) and Mattie Chloe (Johnson) Cunnyngham on a farm in southeast Polk county. Helen graduated from Bolivar High School in the class of 1932 and lived her many years in Bolivar, except for 6 years in Oklahoma.
On March 24, 1940, Helen married Voyne Leland Breshears and they enjoyed 41 years together before his death in 1981. This union was blessed with two children, Nancy Kay and William (Bill) Arthur Breshears.
Helen accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at the age of 11 and was a faithful member of the Mt. Gilead Methodist Church until she could no longer physically attend the services. She lived with her son, Bill and family for 25 years, then spent her last four years at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar.
Helen enjoyed being a mother, a grandmother, and a great grandmother. She had many friends and relatives whom she enjoyed talking to and spending time with. Whether talking on the phone, attending SBU basketball games with her friends, or talking to the peacocks at the park with her grandchildren, she always had a smile on her face. Her ability to make friends and play bingo made her days at the nursing home enjoyable as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mattie Chloe Cunnyngham; husband, Voyne L. Breshears; daughter, Nancy Kay Amos; grandson, Jason Vance Amos; brother Harlan Cunnyingam and wife Bethany.
She is survived by son, Bill A. Breshears and wife Pearlene; son-in-law, Jay Amos and wife Libby; grandchildren Joylyn (Amos) Keryger and husband Michael, Reggie Breshears and wife Kristie, Cherita (Breshears) Heller and husband Michael; great grandchildren, Taylor (Liberty) Lowe and husband Austin, Ashton Liberty, Blaine Breshears, Vance Breshears, Cole Heller, and Drew Heller; and great-great granddaughter, Joelle Lowe.
Memorial donations can be made to Mt. Gilead Methodist Church or First Baptist Church El Salvador offering for construction of schools.
