Helen Dotson's Obituary
Helen Marie Hulsey Dotson, daughter of Howard A. and Mae Bushy Davis, was born August 16, 1920, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, March 20, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of ninety-one years, seven months, and four days. Early in her life, she was united in marriage to Don Hulsey, who preceded her in death. Later, she was married to Eldon Dotson, and they shared several years before his passing. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Harold Davis; two sisters, Dorothy Tuttle, and Louise McDaniel; and a nephew, Gary McDaniel. Helen is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri, and graduated from Lebanon High School. After receiving her Cosmetology license, she owned and operated a beauty salon in Lebanon and in Waynesville. In the 1940?s, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she continued to live the rest of her ninety-one years. She also owned and operated a beauty salon in Las Vegas for a number of years. Helen followed the Baptist faith throughout her life. She had also worked as an exercise instructor at the Y.M.C.A. in Las Vegas. She was a lady of diversified interests and enjoyed fishing and hunting with the men, interior decorating, and entertaining guests in her home. She loved animals, and especially enjoyed her favorite cat. She had remarkably been able to live by herself except for her last few days. Helen will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. We celebrate her life and know that her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
