Helen Hyde (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Helen Marie Hyde, age 94 of Louisburg, MO, was born on July 12, 1928, to Donald and Emma Arnold. She was united in marriage to Clyde H. (Sam) Hyde on August 14, 1949. From this blessed union two children were born, Claude E. (Butch) Hyde and Diana Johnson.
Helen focused on her family after marriage as a stay-at-home mom and when the kids were in grade school, she started driving the Dallas County school bus. Years later, she became the bus driver for the Head Start school in Dallas County. After this, Helen ran for Collector of Dallas County and was the county Collector for many years.
Through all these years Helen was an active member of the Louisburg Christian Church, and after her beloved husband Sam passed away from battling cancer and emphysema, Helen began a quilting group at the church and did this for many years until her eyesight started to fail her. Her hobbies included painting, gardening, sewing, cooking for her family and friends, and being teased by her husband Sam. She loved reading the Bible and was most concerned about making sure her family was saved and knew the word of God. She always led her family in prayer before any dinner. She enjoyed going to church and greatly missed it when her health did not allow her to attend church.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Donald, and Emma Arnold; her husband, Clyde H. (Sam) Hyde; three brothers Alvin, Kenneth, and Claude Arnold.; two sisters, Glenda Taylor and Colleen Cargill; one grandchild, Lisa Hyde; two special sisters-in-law, Marge Arnold and Helen Lee Hyde; as well as lifelong friends Rose Marie Powell and Florene Hamlet.
She is survived by her son Claude (Butch) Hyde and wife Kathy; her daughter, Diana Johnson and husband Burley; five grandchildren, Martha and husband Everett, Bucky and wife Aubrey, Angie and husband Michael, Curtis Hyde, and Heather Hyde; sixteen great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Haley, Syrena, Samantha, Travis, Breanna, Clyde, Conner, Jazmen, Emma, Josie, Gabe, India, Eva, Ava, and Cash; dear friends, Carol Dunning and Dorothy Lister; as well as other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Helen passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on June 4, 2023. She was known for her kind heart, sweet spirit, and her strong belief in God. To her family, she will forever be remembered as the sweetest mom, grandma, and great-grandma. Job well done. We are the luckiest people in the world to be loved unconditionally by you.
