Helen Matney's Obituary
Helen Elizabeth “Dolly” Matney, daughter of Horace Eugene and Fannie Jane (Wright) Riley, was born July 18, 1919, in Norborne, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, October 26, 2008, in Rocky Ridge Manor, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, three months, and eight days.
On June 8, 1941 she was united in marriage to Cecil Matney and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, on August 15, 1999; her parents; four brothers, Wayne, John, Hubert, and Lawrence; and three sisters, Kathryn, Normagene, and Laverne.
Dolly is survived by a daughter, Beth Coffman, of Norwood, Missouri; a granddaughter, Misty Clanton, of Norwood, Missouri; a grandson, Jason Coffman, of Norwood, Missouri; seven great-grandchildren, Bobby Clanton, Jr., Jonathon Clanton, Joshua Clanton, Journee Clanton, Katlyn Moore, Jason Coffman, Jr., and Lillian Coffman; two sisters, Audrey Copeland, and Emma “Mickey” Henslee, and her husband, Harry, all of Mansfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
She was born in Norborn and spent most of her life in the Mansfield area and was a graduate of Mansfield High School.
Dolly had made her profession of belief in Christ and was of the Pentecostal faith.
In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Dolly was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008 in Star Cemetery, east of Seymour. Burial will follow. Visitaion will be held from 7-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield.
