Helen Shelton's Obituary
Helen June Shelton, daughter of Jesse Emerson and Faye Louise (Martin) Brixey was born March 13, 1934 in the Midway Community of Wright County, Missouri. She passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009 in her home near Seymour, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, four months, and two days.
On September 15, 1949 she was united in marriage to Bob M. Shelton, and to this union one daughter and one son was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jeromy Denney; and a niece, Carol Leann Dix.
Helen is survived by her husband Bob of the home; a daughter, Joyce Denney and husband Lonnie of Seymour, Missouri; a son, Bob Shelton, Jr. and wife Eileen of Sparta, Missouri; three grandchildren, Brandi Matlock and husband Miles of Seymour, Missouri, Warren Denney and wife Shelley of Seymour, Missouri and Michelle Shelton; three great-grandchildren, Kendyl Matlock, Reghan Matlock, and Brett Denney; a sister Doris Dix and husband R.D. of Seymour, Missouri; a nephew, Charles Dix of Calais, Maine; a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Helen spent her early years in Midway and moved with her family to the Seymour area at the age of six. After meeting and marrying Bob, they continued to make their home in the Seymour area.
She had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of the Seymour Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Seymour Homemaker’s Club, and also served as the supervisor of cafeterias in the Seymour R-II School District.
Helen owned and operated Shelton’s Dry Goods in Seymour for several years, and was retired from the Marshfield Wal-Mart where she worked as a sales clerk.
In her spare time, Helen enjoyed sewing and gardening as well as cooking and spending time with her family. Most of all, she was a devoted homemaker to her family and a loving wife to Bob.
Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
Services are 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 20, 2009 in Holman-Howe Chapel in Seymour,Mo., with Rev. Gordon Heckendorn officiating. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour.Visitation will be 2-3 P.M., Sunday, July 19, 2009 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Friends of the Seymour Community Library in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 366, Seymour, Mo. 65746
