Helen Wakefield (Hartville)'s Obituary
Helen Bethine Wakefield, daughter of Harold Franklin and Ora Inez Gregory Tombleson was born November 18, 1918 near Hartville, Missouri and departed this life on October 18, 2018 at the Hartville Care Center at the age of ninety-nine years and eleven months.
On October 26, 1941 she was united in marriage to Ausber Amos Wakefield and to this union four daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ausber, on November 24, 1993, daughter, Sharon Wakefield, on November 25, 1999 and two infant daughters, two sisters, Ruby Jean and Pauline.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Linda Herrman and her husband, Armin, of Hartville; two grandsons, Mike and his wife Alanna Herrman of Hartville and Mathew Herrman and his husband Scott Spurlin of Greenbrier, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Addisyn and Kaleb Herrman of Hartville; one sister-in-law, Jean Nickle of Springfield; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was born, raised and lived most of her life in Hartville. Helen was a bookkeeper for MFA in Hartville and after she met and married Ausber they milked cows for several years in the first walk through dairy barn in Wright County. After the girls started school, she worked as a cook in the Hartville School District for over 27 years. She also served as secretary/treasurer on the Wynn Cemetery board.
In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and made over 200 afghans for Newborns in Need. She also liked playing cards, gardening and canning.
Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and will always cherish the many special times we had together.
