Henry "Jack" Garner's Obituary
Henry V. “Jack” Garner, the son of James Wiley and Nancy Ann Lowry Garner, was born July 20, 1917, near Spring Hollow, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, December 28, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-five years, five months, and nine days.
In 1937, he was united in marriage to Luella Wasmer, and to this union eight children were born.
In 1950, he was married to Minnie C. Bates, who brought two daughters of her own into the union and later four children were born.
In 1964, he married Janice Holson¬, and to this union two children were born.
Later, a step-niece, Norma Jean Aubruy, lived with him and took care of the youngest two children for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Luella and Minnie; a daughter, Glenna Lanson; an infant son, William Garner; a son, Lloyd Roy Garner; a step-son, William James Edward Wasmer; three brothers; and six sisters.
Jack is survived by his wife, Janice, of the State of California; five daughters, Zada Irene Boles, of Lebanon, Missouri, Emma May Bloys, of Fresno, California, Betty June Garner, of Silva, Missouri, Eva Ima Rich-Baron, of Ear Falls, Ontario, Canada, and June Ann Williams, of Republic, Missouri; six sons, Charles Eugene Garner, of Merced, California, Jackie Lee Roy Garner, of Woodard, Oklahoma, Henry Junior Garner, of Kansas City, Missouri, Arthur Frederick Garner, of St. Louis, Missouri, Jackie Benjamin Garner, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Charles Henry “Hank” Garner, of Panama City, Florida; two step-daughters, Barbara Jean Rodden, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Marie Hunzinger, of Kansas City, Missouri; a foster daughter, Joyce York, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived most of his life in the Lebanon area, where he worked as a cattle farmer for many years. He also owned and operated a Phillips 66 gas station in Lebanon, which won a 5 Star Service award, for several years and worked as a mechanic.
In his spare time he greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a colorful pioneer of this area and lived his life the way he saw fit. He was a hard worker and was always willing to help those in need.
Jack was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.
