Hobart L. Edwards (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Hobart Lee Edwards, son of William and Bessie (Miller) Edwards, was born in Springfield, Missouri on October 28, 1930, and departed this life on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Colonial Springs Healthcare Facility in Buffalo, Missouri. He was at the time of his passing 92 years, one month, and 14 days of age.
Hobart spent his early life growing up and working on the family farm in Greene County. He would do this until he was drafted in 1950 for the Korean War. Before leaving for the war, he was married to Lucille Cooksey on February 9, 1950, and to this union were born two children. He then faithfully served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army and served in the Korean War until the cease fire. After serving stateside for a little while, Hobart would be honorably discharged in 1953. He would then work for Doran Construction as a carpenter building houses in the Greene and Dallas County area. Also, while building homes, he would work as a farmer. He farmed and chased cattle until he was recently too sick to do so.
Hobart placed his faith in Jesus Christ at a young age and was baptized in the Pomme de Terre River. He would go on to raise and lead his family to love and follow God. He was a faithful member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church for 20+ years. He served his church by helping build their newest addition and the current activities building. Hobart loved being with his great-grandchildren and encouraging them to love and follow the Lord as well.
Hobart was preceded in death his wife, Lucille Edwards; his parents; one sister, Marjorie Snodgrass; and two brothers, Billy Edwards & Oren Safford Edwards. He is survived by his children, Timothy Edwards of Louisburg, Missouri and Anietra Holderby of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Carol Larimore of Marshfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Stephen Edwards, Christopher Edwards, Jana Keen, Rachel Audet, and Jonathan Holderby; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Hobart will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Missouri with Pastor John Stewart officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Elkland, Missouri. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Cherry Grove Baptist Church or the Gideons.
