Howard Lane Maddux (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Howard Lane Maddux, son of Donald and Mary (Griffith) Maddux, was born in Buffalo, Missouri on November 29, 1940, and departed this life on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was at the time of his passing 81 years, 11 months, and three days of age.
Howard was born and raised in the Buffalo area and graduated from school in Tunas, Missouri. Afterwards he briefly attended college and moved to Kansas City, Missouri for work. He would then ultimately move back home and would spend the rest of his life farming. He was primarily a beef farmer, but also worked with dairy cows and pigs. Then, on April 4, 2004, Howard would be joined in marriage to Catherine Clemmons.
Howard was a lifetime member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church. It was in his early teens when he had his salvation experience with Jesus Christ. Besides for his love of farming, a few of his hobbies were quail hunting and being a member of a classic car club. Howard was a hardworking and caring man who enjoyed the simple things of life, and he loved his family dearly.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald Wayne Maddux; and one stepdaughter, Karen Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Maddux of the home; his son, Layne Maddux and wife Brandy of Buffalo, Missouri; two step-sons, Leland Dame of Tunas, Missouri and Robert Dame of Buffalo, Missouri; one step-daughter, Tammy Dame of Buffalo, Missouri; two sisters, Linda Howard and husband Jack of Springfield, Missouri and Rosalie Franklin and husband Bill of Rolla, Missouri; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is loved by all who knew him, and he will be missed.
Funeral services for Howard will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Missouri, and will be officiated by Bro. Aaron Taylor and Bro. Thomas Clemmons. Escorts will be Elija Maddux, Owen Maddux, Chase Maddux, Roger Partridge, Jim Stanton, and Jerry Berry. Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Buffalo, Missouri off of New Hope Rd. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Howard’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
