HOWARD DAVID NICHOLS
Howard David Nichols, son of David H. and Marcellene J. Flack Nichols, was born July 17, 1937, in Bridgeton, New Jersey. He departed this life Tuesday, November 24, 2020, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, four months, and seven days.
On June 10, 1966, he was united in marriage to Janet Irene Randolph and to this union one son was born.
His parents preceded him in death.
Howard is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Janet, of the home; a son, Chris Nichols, and his wife, Kristy, of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren, McKenzie, Haven, Wyatt, Charlotte, and Cooper; a brother, Dr. David Nichols, of Marietta, Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law, James Randolph, and his wife, Ruth, and Rick Randolph, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in New Jersey, where he graduated from high school. In 1960 he moved with his family to Lebanon, Missouri. He served in the United States Army National Guard for a few years. He owned and operated a Mobile Gas Station for several years. After he and Janet were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their son. Howard began working as a machinist for Northside Machine Shop and then Bill’s Farm and Home. He later worked for Richmont Machine in Lebanon for a number of years.
Howard had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Happy Hill Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
He loved building race cars which were raced by his son and others. He greatly enjoyed watching races. He liked family dinners and especially enjoyed having time with his grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
