Howard Adkins Tribble, son of Floyd Anderson and Pearl Inez Adkins Tribble, was born June 18, 1920, in Fillmore, California. He departed this life Tuesday, March 20, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, nine months, and two days. On June 14, 1946, he was united in marriage to Reva Helen Barnes, and to this union one son and three daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Dwight “Ike” Viles; four grandchildren, Tabitha Dawn, Tristan Chance, Quincy Lynn, and Toby Dominque Viles; a brother, Tommy Tribble; a sister, Betty Jean Griffin, and her husband, Tom; and a sister-in-law, Betty Tribble. Howard is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Reva, of the home; a son, Richard Tribble, and his wife, Maria, of Lebanon, Missouri; three daughters, Linda Moss, and her husband, Len, of Maynard, Arkansas, Margaret Viles, and Phyllis Moore, and her husband, Donald, all of Lebanon, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Leland Tribble, of Lubbock, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born in California, but was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri community, and graduated from the Phillipsburg High School in the Class of 1941. While a young man he worked for Consolidated Aircraft for a short time before entering the military two days before the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II. After he and Reva were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area for a few years before moving to Grovespring, where they lovingly raised their family on a dairy farm. They eventually purchased their current farm west of Lebanon, which has been in the family since 1858, and where Howard raised beef cattle for a number of years. Howard made his profession of faith in Christ early in his life and was a longtime active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He greatly loved serving his Lord and Savior. He was a lifetime member and former commander of the Disabled American Veterans, and was also a lifetime member of the National Order of Trench Rats. He belonged to the Lion’s Club in Grovespring, Missouri for a number of years. In his spare time he liked fishing, working in his garden, where he grew both vegetables and flowers, and reading. He enjoyed working on the farm and caring for his animals. His family was most important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Atchley (Blackfoot) Cemetery.
