Hubert Bland's Obituary
Hubert Edward Bland, son of Samuel Poke and Susie Myrtle “Daisy” Jameson Bland, was born December 6, 1918 in Moscow Mills, Missouri. He departed this life, Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in University Hospital, Columbia, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, two months and one day. In the 1940’s he met Clara Alice Bachmann. It wasn’t until 1968 that they were united in marriage. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2002 after thirty-four years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents and ten brothers and sisters. Survivors include a sister, Helen Bachmann of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers, Carlos Bland and Leo Bland, both of St. Louis, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews including, Linda King and husband Charles of Eldridge, MO, Susan Ruff and husband Clifford, Sr. of Camdenton, Missouri, Cindy Landrum of Camdenton, Missouri, Bobby Stoddard of St. Louis, Missouri and John Landherr of Union, Missouri. Hubert was raised in the Moscow Mills, Missouri area and attended school there. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and was stationed in Northern California. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After he was honorably discharged, he moved to Saint Louis and began a career as a truck driver. He and Clara moved to Camdenton in 1992. He was a member of the Teamster’s Union and was a man who took pleasure in the simple things of life and enjoyed gardening and tinkering. Hubert will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Visitation will be held from 5 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2007, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Memorials to The American Cancer Society may be made through the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
