Hubert L. Curtner (Hartville) 's Obituary
Hubert Lee Curtner, son of John Edward Valentine and Anis Lavern Whitson Curtner, was born September 27, 1941 in Cabool, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Cox Medical Center, South, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, nine months, and six days.
On September 2, 1960, Hubert was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ellen Peacock, and together they shared nearly forty-five years until her passing on August 4, 2005.
Hubert was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Teresa Price; two brothers, Lon Edward Curtner, Jr., and Rick Curtner; two brothers-in-law, Lloyd Aldridge and Bill McGuin; and two dear friends, Ronnie Page and Royce Hutchison.
He is survived by his children, Debra Fischer and husband Mark, of Rogersville, Missouri, Judy Massey and husband Gary, of Grovespring, Missouri, John Curtner and wife Cindy, of Hartville, Missouri, and Brad Curtner and wife Johanna, of Springfield, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two sisters, Alta Aldridge of Grandview, Missouri, and Maxine McGuin of Rolla, Missouri; a brother, Eddie Curtner, of Houston, Texas; a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Hubert spent his younger years living in Texas County and started to work with Webster County Electric in 1968. He moved to Hartville in 1971 and went to work for Laclede Electric Cooperative, and eventually went on the road as a Journeyman Lineman, holding the positions of Foreman and General Foreman throughout his employment. He retired in 1992. Hubert was also a thirty-three year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
Hubert had accepted Christ as his Savior and was of the Baptist faith.
In his spare time, Hubert enjoyed rebuilding tractors, spending time with family and friends, and watching old Westerns. He also was a regular donor to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Hubert was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many dear friends.
