Ida Louise Dickson (Seymour)'s Obituary
Ida Dickson, lifelong and treasured Seymour resident, was born Ida Louise Owens on May 27, 1924, in Seymour, Missouri, to William Alford and Pashia Belle Owens. She was raised in the Gentry area and spent nearly all her life in rural Diggins and Seymour.
On March 29, 1942, she married the love of her life, Robert Irvin Dickson, and to this union three sons and a daughter were born. They shared thirty-one blessed years devoted to each other and their family until his passing in January 1973.
Ida was a dedicated homemaker both in her home and outside her home, as for a time she was a loyal steward to a Springfield doctor and his family. She loved the outdoors and mowing the yard was one of her favorite things to do. In her spare time Ida liked to crochet.
She was a longtime member of Harvestime Tabernacle in Marshfield, Missouri, where she enjoyed being church secretary and spent years faithfully serving on the Ladies Auxiliary. Declining health limited her attendance, but she read her bible daily.
To most, saying Ida was a Godly woman would be an understatement. Her legacy was living her life for Christ. Throughout the years, her witnessing resulted in bringing several people to the Lord. Reverend Phillip Cook was one of those called to serve.
On Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, Ida began her heavenly journey home. She was ninety-six years loved.
In addition to her parents, Ida was reunited with her husband, Irvin; two sons, Tommy Lee Dickson, and Gary Dickson; three brothers, Orville Owens and his wife, Emma, Edgar Owens and his wife, Mildred, Gene Owens and his wife, Loretta; four sisters, Victoria Taylor and her husband, Thurman, Rosie Langley and her husband, Robert, Dorothy Cook and her husband, Eli, and Anna Mattison and her husband, Bertis; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Dickson.
Ida leaves behind her son, Roy Dickson and his wife, Waneta, of Urbana, Missouri; her daughter, Carolyn Medling, of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Shane Dickson and wife, Shaunna, of Ava, Missouri, Ethan Dickson of Kansas City, Missouri, Anita Beck and husband, Jim, of Spokane, Missouri, Laura Jones and husband, Michael Mullvaney, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Brent Medling and wife, Bobbie, of Bois D’Arc, Missouri; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her brother, James ‘Erskel’ Owens, of Diggins, Missouri; her brothers-in-law, Jack Dickson, and Keith Dickson and his wife, Angie; many nieces and nephews and extended family; her church family and countless dear friends and neighbors.
Family and friends will sadly miss Ida’s caring ways, her kindness, her gentle spirit, and sweet smile. She will forever be lovingly remembered.
Memorials may be made for services and left at the funeral home.
