Ida Bell Jennings (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Ida Bell Jennings, daughter of Charley and Alma L. Snyder Berry, was born January 3, 1914, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, November 15, 2014, in Christian Health and Rehabilitation Center South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of one hundred years, ten months, and twelve days.
On May 3, 1930, she was united in marriage to Freeman Levi Jennings, and to this union three daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Freeman Jennings, on March 3, 1984; a daughter, Leota Napper; a son, Rev. Billy Jennings; a son-in-law, Lyall Parsons; two grandsons, Matthew and Timothy Parsons; two brothers, James and George Berry; and a sister, Florence Massey.
Ida is survived by two daughters, Mary Parsons, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Donita Reid, and her husband, Darrel, of Willard, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Roena Jennings, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; a son-in-law, Jack Napper, of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Phillip Jennings, Marcia Harvey, Julia Rose, Joy Smith, Becky Holmes, Teresa Hickle, Roger Napper, and Jack Napper, Jr.; sixteen great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Berry, and his wife, Vivian, of Sedalia, Missouri; a sister, Rosalie Burgess, of Sedalia, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
She lived her entire life in the Lebanon, Missouri area. After she and Freeman were married, they made their home near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their children. Ida was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and worked as a seamstress for the H. D. Lee Company for several years. She and Freeman also owned and operated JJ’s Second Hand Store on Second Street in Lebanon for a number of years. Ida was always a supportive minister’s wife and helped her husband in his pastoral duties and in evangelizing.
Ida and Freeman founded the Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church of God in Lebanon, where Ida was an active member for many years.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and liked to share her creations with her family and friends. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Ida was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her one hundred years.
Memorial donations may be made to the Glad Tidings Mission, and left at the funeral home.
