Ida Jones' Obituary
Ida Mae Jones, daughter of Charles C. and Myrtle Anglin Gann, was born January 17, 1911, near Conway, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-eight years, two months, and twenty days. On March 20, 1920, she was united in marriage to Zelmer Jones, and to this union seven sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Zelmer, on November 23, 1995; four sons, Bob, Lavone, Bill and Loren Jones; and five brothers, Junior, Wilbren, Otis, Harlin, and Everett Gann. Ida is survived by three sons, Leo Jones, and his wife, Lois, of Conway, Missouri, Donald Jones, and his wife, Lorna, of Palmdale, California, and Wayne Jones, of Placentia, California; nineteen grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Dudley, of Conway, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Conway, Missouri, area. After she and Zelmer were married, they made their home in Sylmar, California, for twenty years. Throughout the years, Ida was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family. Eventually, the family returned to Conway, Missouri, and made their home. Ida had made her peace with the Lord, and had attended the Pentecostal Church in Conway. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting and doing embroidery work. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making special meals for her family and friends. She enjoyed being able to get out and do things and didn’t like sitting at home. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ida was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday April 10, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Conway, Missouri. Visitation is Thursday evening 7-8:30pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Graceland Cemetery care fund.
