Ida Scott's Obituary
Ida Joyce Scott, daughter of Almon and Martha (LeFever) Trobaugh was born February 27, 1933 in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She departed this life Monday, April 19, 2010 in Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri at the age of seventy-seven years, one month and twenty-three days.
On March 13, 1961, Joyce was united in marriage to Newlin Otto Scott and to this union three children were born. They shared forty-nine years before his passing on May 17, 1997.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Robert Lynn Scott and Newlin Loyd Scott; and seven siblings.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Nancy Schmied and her husband, Craig, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Joy Scott, of Doniphan, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Channelle, Courtney, Austin, and Nathan Schmied, and Brandon, Lacy, and Wesley Scott; a step-son, Richard Newlin, his wife Connie, and their family of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Judy Keyes, of Ardmore, Oklahoma and Mary Lawrence, of Bakersfield, California; two brothers, Sonny Trobaugh of Tulare, California and Junior Trobaugh, of Bakersfield, California; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
She was born in Oklahoma and as a young adult she moved to California where she met and married Newlin. In 1971 they moved to Missouri and made their home in the Seymour and Mansfield areas, and in 1972 Newlin answered the call to preach and she became a pastor’s wife. She enjoyed entertaining and cooking for their church families and after attending business school, she began NewJoy Catering of Mansfield, Missouri. She catered parties, weddings, high school reunions, church dinners, and for various organizations.
She had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member and Deaconess of the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Seymour, Missouri.
Joyce was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the memories she created for her family and friends.
Services are 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 22, 2010 in Holman-Howe Chapel in Seymour, with private burial in Seymour Masonic Cemetery in Seymour under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.
