Ida Mae Swanigan (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Ida Mae Swanigan was born on March 20, 1933 in Dallas County, Missouri to Jesse L. and Lena (Mathis) Norman.
Ida was a graduate of Halfway High School. She was saved in a revival meeting in November of 1947 and became a member of the Reynolds Chapel Baptist Church. She went to work in 1952 as a Bookkeeper for Economy Gas Company and was later employed by Contel Telephone Company and Empire District Electric Company before retiring in 2006.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Virginia Welker; and one nephew, David Welker. She is survived by her niece, Linda and husband Johnny Morris of Springfield, MO; two great-nephews, Matthew Morris of Springfield, MO and Andrew & wife Jenie Welker and their family of Royse City, TX; and one great-niece, Jessica and husband Addam Boord and their family of Royse City, TX. She also leaves other family members and many friends who all loved her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home. Escorts will be Tommy Thompson, David Johnson, Larry Harrold, Addam Boord, Andrew Welker, and Johnny Morris. Honorary Escorts will be Jeff Kite and Darren Henderson. Interment will be in the Reynold’s Chapel Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home.
